Casino Myths are Only as Harmful as the Player using Them

Myths and rumors create a self-imposed aura of protection for some players when going to a casino. What causes people to resort to these habits? It all boils down for the need to create order in the chaotic and uncertain world of gambling.

Lotteries seem to have the largest euphoria surrounding them. Somehow, the millions of people who play truly believe that they can win. This is what leads millions to play in the first place. This leads to the myth of using “lucky numbers.” These numbers are determined by various means. Some rely on fortune cookies while others actually pay for systems that give them these numbers.

Blackjack has a few myths surrounding it too. The one that makes me laugh is that the seating arrangement can have a direct affect on the outcome of a game.

The argument is not always whether or not these things work, but rather if relying on them can be harmful. Since the true purpose of a casino is supposed to be to have fun, I don’t believe these myths are detrimental so long as the individual doesn’t let them be. These myths might seem whimsical to some of us, but to others they add more fun and excitement to the games. There’s nothing wrong with that, so long as the individual isn’t relying on them to gamble away their entire life savings. Casino myths are only as harmful as the player using them.
