Facebook Lays The Hammer On Social Roulette

A new app was just recently developed for Facebook based on the game Russian Roulette but instead of being a matter of real life or death, it was merely a virtual game in which one set out to survive the game without losing and therefore having their account deleted. This game basically was designed to give those who were looking for a little more excitement in the social media world just that kind of excitement.

While using this app was completely safe and it was not a virus or malware of any kind, the Facebook administration refused to acknowledge its harmlessness and not long after its launching, they blocked the app. Their claim was that this app ruined the experience for Facebook users or so a statement from a Facebook representative claimed. The app developers Jonas Lund, Jonas Jongelan and Kyle McDonald stated in the aftermath that they thought the app had stayed within the boundaries of Facebook’s rules but apparently not.

Some claimed this app had become a form of virtual suicide on Facebook and therefore the admin did not approve of it. It also may be that Facebook decided an app could not be kept on Facebook if it decreased the number of users on its site. The intention of the app in fact was not suicidal in any way; it was just a creative way for someone who may have been considering leaving the Facebook world to do so without having to rethink deleting their account. People understood the risks they took when they played this game so there really was no need for Facebook to come down as hard as they did on this app.
