German state loosens online gambling restrictions

Legislators in Germany narrowly passed a provision recently that would allow one of the top destinations for gambling to allow online casinos. The state of Schleswig-Holstein separated itself from the other regions of the country by setting up its own rules to attract other online gambling companies, Bloomberg reports.

The new rules will be especially attractive to other online betting companies operating in other states that have more restrictive rules. In particular, Jaxx SE says that by doing business in Schlewsig-Holstein, a gambling stronghold in Europe, they can make much more money.

"We want to make the same business as we do now, just we do it in Germany, instead of in Malta," a spokesperson for the company Stefan Zenker told the news source.

Among the rules put forward is one that allows companies to have an unlimited number of licenses for online gambling websites as well as a more lax tax code compared to the surrounding states.

Jaxx SE hopes to offer players everything from web-based sports betting to online poker and other casinos games such as roulette.
