Increase in Female Social Poker players

New studies show that at least 1/3 online poker players are female. And this number could rise within the next few years. Data from the International Game Technology (IGT) and DoubbleDown Casino showed that online gambling is increasingly appealing to women. This research was compiled from six million visitors to the DoubleDown casino game in Facebook and mobile App. The study also concluded that the largest number of female players were for based in Hawaii, with the average female spending over 6.5 hours o month on online gambling platforms.

Masculine Society

Although gambling is regarded as a masculine dominated game, this study shows that the target group for mobile gambling could, and should, be broadened. Vice president of IGT had this ti say: “As the world’s largest virtual casino, we pay attention to trends and make note of the fact that poker is appealing to broader audiences both online and on the casino floor” This is also represented in the professional scene as many more male participants register for major tournaments and cash games. This recent study indicates however that these numbers might change in the future as a new demographic of gamblers enter the scene.
