New Zealand considers adding lottery tickets to online casinos

Though a lot has been made of the desire of many people within the United States to legalize online gambling, another country is hoping to change its already-existing policies. New Zealand is mulling over a proposal to sell and promote lottery tickets through internet casinos, which have become increasingly popular, Casino Times reports.

The proposal was put forth by the New Zealand Lotteries Commission and would involve Instant Kiwi lottery tickets. In addition to giving the country an added area of revenue, proponents of the measure have championed what it does for customer service as well.

The biggest reason why many people feel selling lottery tickets online is a good idea is become internet casinos have taken off in New Zealand. According to the news source, the Lotteries Commission chief executive Todd Mcleay says that it would behoove the lottery industry to go online, since so many other companies are doing the same.

The lottery has been one of the must lucrative programs in New Zealand since it started in 1986. Many of the profits go toward the public interest, and so far it has raised around $3 billion for the tiny island nation.
