U.S. judge not likely to throw out online gambling case

This past April, 11 defendants were accused of bank fraud, money laundering and illegal gambling through the major online casinos, Poker Stars, Full Tilt Poker and Absolute Poker. Today, the lawyers of Chad Elie and John Campos requested that the case be dismissed, the federal judge explained that was unlikely, according to Bloomberg.

“I think it extraordinarily unlikely the entire indictment will be dismissed,” U.S. District Judge Lewis Kaplan in Manhattan said at the end of a hearing today.

Kaplan explained that he would rule on the case being dismissed at a later date, and said that if there is trail, it will be on March 12, 2012, the media outlet reports.

According to The Associated Press, Campos worked for SunFirst Bank in Utah, which is where foreign-based online poker sites were able to have money processed. Both Campos and Elie pleaded not guilty, and their lawyers strongly fought back against the allegations.

What do you think will happen during the trail? Do you think the case should have been dismissed?
