Report shows that UK plan to put consumption tax on online gambling could backfire

It seems as though the battle over legalizing or taxing online gambling is an issue across the globe, as a new report in the UK explains that many are fighting back against a possible consumption tax on online gaming destinations, according to The Telegraph.

A new study conducted by accountants Deloitte found that any tax would likely cause players to go to unregulated sites and it will also cause smaller online gaming destinations to fail.

There is an additional proposal that examines British consumers who use unregulated sites, saying that any operator will need a Gambling Commission license in order to enter into transactions with British gamers.

The conclusions drawn from the reports are up for a heated debate, as many gamers and the online casinos do not agree. Players want to be able to play online roulette, poker, craps and slots without worrying about various taxes.

With this new study, do you think that the English government will back down? How long do you think this debate will go on for before they come to an agreement?
