Hall of Fame poker player joins with FairPlayUSA

The push to regulate online gambling in the United States recently got a big name behind it. Poker Hall of Famer and former World Series of Poker bracelet winner Mike Sexton was named to the FairPlayUSA advisory board.

FairPlayUSA is one of the leading organizations that is in favor of strict regulation of online poker and other gambling websites. Sexton joins a list of other important figures on the board including former Secretary of Homeland Security Tom Ridge and professional poker player Greg Raymer.

"Americans should be able to play poker online in the privacy of their homes knowing that the games are safe and fair," Sexton said about his involvement with the organization. "FairPlayUSA is committed to ensuring a strict regulatory framework for online poker, and I am pleased to be part of its advisory board."

As it stands now, there are not many laws on the books regarding the legality of online gambling in the United States, leaving many players vulnerable to being victimized by unscrupulous operations. Currently, several states, including California and New Jersey are looking to fully legalize the practice.
